Lithia Springs: Once Upon a Time...

A friend gave me  a small piece of history of Lithia Springs (Salt Springs) . It’s a copy of a poster for the sale of residence lots in the area of South Sweetwater Rd. and Hwy. 78 in beautiful downtown Lithia Springs.The poster shows the subdivision surrounding the Sweet Water Park Hotel and the Chautauqua Grounds. Note the misspelling of "Chautauqua" on the poster.

South Sweetwater Road was named Sweetwater Ave. and Bankhead Hwy. 78 was named Johnson Ave. The map shows the Sweet Water & Bowden Lithia Rail Road, a trolley line than ran along Hwy. 78 down Peachtree St. behind "78 Body Shop". This is near the Bowden Plantation House.
