Local Linemen are World Champions
A team of GreyStone linemen won first place in competition with 205 teams from around the world.
A team of linemen from GreyStone Power Corporation in Douglasville won first place overall in competition with 205 teams of linemen from around the world. The team of Josh Jones, Tony Brown and Patrick LeCroy with Matt Williams as coach battled pouring rains and fierce winds at the International Lineman’s Rodeo on Oct. 13 in Bonner Springs, Kan.
The competition drew linemen from across the country as well as Canada, England, Brazil and Jamaica.

Along with the world championship win, the linemen also earned an award for first place in the Journeyman REA, EMC and Co-op division. The team took home second place in two mystery events, which included Replace 8’ Cross Arm and Replace Tie Wire. The team won an overall Fall Protection award as well.
GreyStone’s other competing journeyman teams rounded out the top 12 in the Journeyman REA, EMC and Co-op division. Linemen Taylor Shadrix, Sam Albright and Josh Kirby with Derek Carruth as coach came in seventh place for the division. Coming in at eighth place in the division were linemen Jack Rider, Matt Orr and Bryn Speck. In twelfth place for the division were linemen Shane Crider, Matt Ingram and Jared Childers with Tim Costner as coach.

Participating in the apprentice competitions were apprentice linemen Marcus Aldridge and Jarred Stevens. Linemen Eric Taylor, Steve Jenkins and Brett Corley served as judges. GreyStone Safety Director Blake Pendley was also in attendance.
