Maggie May

Maggie's tail begins wagging the minute she sees anyone approaching her kennel and she loves to go on walks and play with toys and make new friends.

Maggie ID#5470

Maggie is an adorable little gal who came to the shelter on July 17th as a stray pick up. Maggie is listed as a American Pit Bull Terrier, but her face betrays more of a Bull Terrier than a Pit. Maggie is as sweet of a little gal as you could ask for. She makes friends immediately with everyone she meets and she gets along well with other dogs who are as laid back and even tempered as she is. Maggie is 1-2 years old and approximatley 45 pounds. She has not been spayed yet. Maggie's tail begins wagging the minute she sees anyone approaching her kennel and she loves to go on walks and play with toys and make new friends. Come give this little girl a look and see if she isn't the addition that you are missing in your life.

If you are interested in adopting Maggie, or any of the many other beautiful and sweet dogs or cats that are available for adoption, please take the time to visit the Douglas County Animal Shelter located at 1755 County Services Road (off Cedar Mountain Road) this week. The summer months are the critical months to adopt and rescue dogs and cats, so please consider giving one of these dogs or cats a loving and forever home.

To learn about other animals available for adoption at Douglas County Animal Control, view the DCAC PetFinder listings on their website.

Or please visit the DC shelter pets posted and profiled daily at Rainbow Connections on Facebook and at our sister page Furbabies of DCAS on facebook.

Pet listings on each of these pages are updated daily; therefore, some animals featured may be adopted prior to your arrival at the shelter. That after all is the goal. If the pet you have seen promoted and are interested in has been adopted, please consider giving another of the many loveable pets an opportunity to be your forever friend. Come see them and allow them to show you just how special they each are once they are given a chance to be adopted.

Adoption fees for dogs and cats at DCAC is $25 and there is a $10 micro chip fee. $35 for the opportunity to make a friend for life and the opportunity to give a fur kid a forever home is a small price to pay.

All dogs presently receive intake inoculations for kennel cough, parvo and distemper (cats receive distemper as part of a five way vaccination). All pets adopted from the shelter are required to have their rabies shots and be spayed or neutered within thirty days of adoption, unless they are kittens or puppies and they are given extended time. The Douglas County Animal Shelter phone: 770-942-5961. If the line is busy, please keep trying as there is often limited staff to answer calls. However, messages left will be returned as time permits.
