Spike is a calm and laid back boy, 1-2 years old and approximately 50 pounds. Johnathan is a big love bug who loves belly rubs and all human attention. Jonathan is also 1-2 years old and approximately 50 pounds. Both of these are young and vibrant dogs who only need a second chance to demonstrate what loving animals they can truly be. Come see them this week before Friday, or it may be too late for them.
If you are interested in adopting Spike or Jonathan, or any of the many other beautiful and sweet dogs or cats that are available for adoption, please visit the Douglas County Animal Shelter located at 1755 County Services Road (off Cedar Mountain Road). The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed to the public on Monday, but open to rescue organizations on Mondays. The summer months are the critical months to adopt and rescue, so please consider giving one of these dogs or cats a loving and forever home.

To learn about other animals available for adoption at Douglas County Animal Control, view the DCAC PetFinder listings on their website. or see the DC shelter pets posted and profiled daily at Rainbow Connections on Facebook. also, please visit our sister page Furbabies of DCAS on facebook.
Pet listings on each of these pages are updated daily, therefore, some animals featured may be adopted prior to your arrival at the shelter and that after all is the goal. If the pet you are interested in has been adopted, please consider giving another of the many loveable pets an opportunity to be your forever friend and allow them to show you just how special they each are once they are given a chance.
Adoption fees for dogs and cats at DCAC is $25 and there is a $10 micro chip fee. $35 for the opportunity to make a friend for life and the opportunity to give a fur kid a forever home is a small price to pay.
All dogs presently receive intake inoculations for kennel cough, parvo and distemper (cats receive distemper as part of a five way vaccination). All pets adopted from the shelter are required to have their rabies shots and be spayed or neutered within thirty days of adoption, unless they are kittens or puppies and they are given extended time. The Douglas County Animal Shelter phone: 770-942-5961. If the line is busy, please keep trying as there is often limited staff to answer calls. However, messages left will be returned as time permits.
