The Most Bizzare First Round of NBA Playoffs Ever

There has never been a start like this in playoff history of any sport. I can only imagine what else is in-stored for the NBA Playoffs.

Before the NBA Playoffs started, we all assumed that one thing was for sure, the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat would have a slug fest to contend for the NBA Championship. I guess we can almost kiss that goodbye barring an incredible comeback by the Bulls. Injuries have plagued this first round worse than the disease that little monkey carried around on the movie Outbreak. These injuries aren't just nagging injuries,  these are season ending injuries. I will be the first to apologize to Dwight Howard for calling him a coward. I guess his injury was a sign for things to come.

First off Derrick Rose. I'm probably the biggest Derrick Rose fan alive and when I heard the news that he tore his ACL, my knees buckled like I tore something. I really felt sorry for him because this seemed like the year where he was mature enough and they might have had enough fighting power to dethrone the Heat for the Eastern Conference. The only thing more bizarre than that was to see Iman Shumpert have the exact same injury the following television game, maybe 40 minutes after Rose went down. Shumpert was probably the most important piece to the Knicks upsetting the Heat. Carmello Anthony might be their most prolific scorer but Shumpert is their best man to man defender. He has the ability to slow down Wade to disrupt his flow or make him work for his points. His teammate Baron Davis probably had the most gut wrenching injury of all when he dislocated his knee cap in game 2. We won't leave out Caron Butler freak injury of fracturing his wrist only to become heroic after missing one game although he was he was predicted to miss 4-6 weeks.

One moment in these playoffs that will forever be remembered was (no not that the L.A. Clippers actually made it to the playoffs) the greatest comeback in NBA playoff history. The L.A. Clippers were down by 27 points to the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2nd half and came back to steal game 1. The only sad thing about this was maybe 70% found out about it the next day. I was literally looking for the injured Grizzlies players and didn't find one. But the most bizarre story of the playoffs has to be the bout between Amare Stoudamire and the fire extinguisher glass. I understand having frustration after a loss, I can even see a coach throw a chair onto the court, but never have I heard or would imagine a high profile player punching the fire extinguisher glass and nearly having his hand amputated. Not only did he put his team in danger although they were going to lose anyway but he put his career in danger. The cherry on top of the playoffs was the lady running onto the the court  during the Lakers-Nuggets match up disrupting the game. Then she had the nerves to look like she was in the right and security guard was wrong.

In closing your honor, I insist that you not only put a asterisk by the NBA Champs this year but put a exclamation mark next to the asterisk. Now here is your honorable mention: Joakim Noah (sprained ankle) Josh Smith (sprained ankle), Rajon Rondo (suspended for bumping official), and Andrew Bynum ( saying he wasn't ready to play in game 3 and he didn't really warm up).  Tell what you think is the most bizarre?
