World’s Smallest Political Quiz - Take it, I dare you!

Take the World's Smallest Political Quiz

Are you Libertarian, Left-Liberal, Centrist, Right-Conservative, or Statist? Where do you fall in the political spectrum? Take the World’s Smallest Political Quiz and find out!

When we think of political persuasions we generally think in one dimension, Left and Right–Liberal or Conservative–Democrat or Republican. But the political spectrum is two dimensional.

The World's Smallest Political Quiz is a 10-question educational quiz designed by the libertarian Advocates for Self Government, created by Marshall Fritz.

Because the quiz was created by libertarians, I was skeptical of the accuracy of the quiz. Is it a trick? Is it bias? The answer: It’s amazing accurate!

The 10 questions are divided into two groups, Economic and Personal, of five questions each. The answers to the questions can be Agree, Maybe, or Disagree. Twenty points are given for an Agree, ten points for a Maybe, and zero for Disagree. The scores are added for each group and can be zero to one hundred. These two numbers are then plotted on the diamond-shaped chart and the result displays the political group that agrees most with the quiz taker.

I’ve administered the quiz hundreds of times at state fairs and public events. Before the participant takes the quiz, I ask them to look at the diamond shaped chart and tell me where they think they fit in the political spectrum. After the quiz, I place a dot on the chart to illustrate their position. Virtually 100% of the time the position of the dot on the chart was where the participant had indicated. A few participants have no idea what their political persuasions are.

After giving the quiz to one woman at the State Fair, she returned later to the booth and said, “You know I’ve been thinking”. Wow! At that point I realized the purpose of the quiz; to get the public to think about their beliefs and to consider that politics is more than left and right.

So now it’s your turn! Take the quiz. It only takes a few minutes and when you’re finished, share it with someone. It’s a fun way to start a lively political discussion.

I knew long before I took the quiz that I was a libertarian. Actually, I was a libertarian before I realized what a libertarian was. I know what I am… but what are you?
