Car Break-In: DCSO Reminds You to Remove Valuables, Lock Up

Investigators traced online purchase back to person who stole wallet out of car.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office offered this cautionary story from an arrest it made after a recent car break-in at Alexander High School.

Shortly after the July 25 break-in, the victim’s financial information was used to make purchases on the Internet. An investigator traced the transaction to a location off Berea Road, where the victim’s wallet and property were found. A juvenile female was charged.

The Sheriff’s Office said this in a news release:

“While this appears to be an isolated incident and a crime of opportunity, please remember to place your important articles out of sight and lock your door when you leave your car unattended. This may keep you from being a victim in the future.”
