Carlton Hugh Carter, 86, Retired Manager, U.S. Coast Guard Vet

Carlton Hugh Carter, age 86, of Douglasville passed away Friday, June 6, 2014. He was born In Douglas County on January 13, 1928 to the late Annie Mae Davenport and the late Vivian Carter. He was retired from Gulf Life Insurance Company, where he worked as District Manager. He attended Ebenezer Baptist Church.  He also served in the United States Coast Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Oree Couch and Cyril and James Tuggle; his brother and sister-in-law, Verlon and Helen Carter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Martha Benton Carter; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Pam Carter of Douglasville, Phil and Suzy Carter of Huntsville, Alabama and Don and Betty Carter of Alpharetta; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Kaye Carter of Jackson, Mississippi; grandchildren, Jeff, Matt, Lindzy, Blake and Morgan Carter; step-grandchildren Nikki and Charles Youngblood; one great-grandchild, Levi Carter; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 2:00 PM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville.   Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
