Focusing on the theme of “Celebrating Cultural Diversity,” the daily schedule will include three art-making sessions, a morning and afternoon break (snacks provided by Douglas County Department of Parks and Recreation) and lunch (campers to bring their own). Each artist will work with the groups twice on projects within their discipline that reflect and expand on the theme.
The final day will be spent finishing art projects and rehearsing for the concluding performances during the Celebration of Success – a small reception to take place on Friday, April 10th, from 5 until 6 p.m., to which the public is invited.
In addition to the music and dance performances, attendees to the Celebration of Success will have the opportunity to see the student’s artwork in a temporary exhibit put together by the visual arts teachers. The goal of the celebration is not only to showcase the hard work and talent of the every student in attendance, but also to highlight the impact the arts have on young children in developing their creative skills, social interactions, and cultural awareness.
