Christina Peterson Named DC Assistant District Attorney
She will handle Drug Court responsibilities, and develop new Pre-trial Diversion Program for non-violent teen first offenders.

Douglas County District Attorney Brian Fortner is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Peterson as Assistant District Attorney. Ms. Peterson will be prosecuting cases and handling the Drug Court responsibilities of the District Attorney’s Office, as well as developing the new Pre-trial Diversion Program for teenage non-violent and non-aggressive first offenders.
Ms. Peterson earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Memphis (Business and Music, summa cum laude) and Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia, and has worked in the legal field since her undergraduate graduation. Previous experience includes the Western Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office, Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office, the DeKalb County Child Advocacy Center, and Troutman Sanders, LLP.

In addition to being a prosecutor, Ms. Peterson is a registered and experienced mediator.
A native of Atlanta, she grew up in Tennessee, and came home to practice law in Georgia. Ms. Peterson chose prosecution so that she could help to protect the community, and to represent victims. She felt it was a “better fit” for her legal skills, training, and beliefs.

District Attorney Fortner welcomed her to the staff stating “Christina brings many skills to our Office, and they will be invaluable as we develop unique and innovative programs with the Courts, as well as prosecuting cases. We are pleased that she is with us.”
