This year Colonial Hills Christian School, based in Lithia Springs, will celebrate its 55th year and the football team has high hopes this season.
The Rams have had a strong off-season which started March 28, with weight training, spring football in May, participating in two passing competitions this summer, and summer football camp. All that work was led by their three captains – Senior Hamish Lamb. Junior Andrew Daffron, and Sophomore Kevin Currance. The team sported a 3-5 record last season look to rebound with their team motto “Faith, Attitude, Effort, Finish.“
Coach Sean Bruce believes the team has what it takes to have a winning season because of returning senior Tailback Julius Davis. The two middle linebacker freshmen, Colton Fain and JC Shelton are the heart and sole of the defense. Others players likely to be strong contributors are senior QB Nick Petrosky, WR’s Adam Johnson and Sophomore David Lee. The offense and defense lines are anchored by senior Jonathon Crosley, sophomores Drake Bragg, Xavier Jackson, and freshmen Willie Daniels. Three new varsity players are expected to be key, they are senior Drew Mikeal, freshmen Ryan Shackleford and Christopher Jallah.
The Rams play an independent schedule and are getting ready for NACA tournament in TN., on Thursday, Nov. 17. The schedule has six 8-man and four 11-man games this year in hopes of switching to 11-man football for the 2014 season.
