County Leaders Declare 'Douglas Day of Unity'
The public is invited to the event, on Saturday, August 27 at the Douglas County Courthouse.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — City and county officials in Douglas County are inviting the public to join in a Day of Unity.
The event, set for Saturday, August 27, at the Douglas County Courthouse, is designed to be a "bringing together of the whole Douglas County community to show unity and purpose," according to a release announcing the event.
It begins at 5 p.m. and is free to the public.

It will feature live music, a short program on the courthouse steps and a "unity walk" around the courthouse.
That will be followed by a picnic, provided by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department.

"Together -- we inspire each other by sharing our diversity," an event flier reads. "Together -- we find solutions, strength and inspiration. Together -- we create community."
Douglas is one of Georgia's more diverse counties, with a population that is about 44 percent black and 43 percent white, with about 9 percent identifying as Hispanic or Latino and almost 2 percent Asian, according to 2015 Census estimates.
