David Callahan, Candidate for Congress

Getting to Know the Candidates

Douglas County is in the 13th Congressional District. We have been represented by David Scott for 15 years and it is time for a change. This election season, we have a new candidate, David Callahan. Callahan was born in Nuremberg, Germany. His father was a Sergeant in the Army during the Nuremberg Trials. His mother was in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC), she died there in Germany when David was only 11 months old. He was then raised by his maternal grandparents, along with his older brother. David has 2 grown children and he has been divorced since 2011. His divorce led to his move into the 13th District on the south side of Atlanta.

David Callahan said he decided to run when he saw how destructive the progressive agenda has been for the 13th District. He refers to substandard education, despite all the money being spent, failed housing and welfare programs, and poverty, despite all the anti-poverty programs.

His top priority is to reform welfare and to encourage fathers to stay with their children and their mothers. One of his favorite sayings is from Dave Ramsey, “A man’s job was to always kill something and drag it back to the cave. We’ve replaced dads with EBT cards.” David also wants to secure the vote on a federal level by making sure that people aren’t registered to vote in multiple states. David follows Judicial Watch who is very involved in ferreting out voter fraud. He wants to find out why our justice department has to be sued to perform their job.

David says, “I think that President Trump is on the right track as an outsider. The Republican Party needs to help him find a real solution to our problems. Most people in Washington, and in government, generally believe that the answer is always to throw money at a problem without really analyzing what the problem is first. Congress needs to be much more engaged in the oversight of the bureaucracy rather than spending their efforts making money and getting reelected. I believe in the government serving the nation as opposed to the citizens serving the government. “
