A 'Day of Unity' in Douglasville
The Saturday event was designed to bring members of the Douglas County community together.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — It was a "day of unity" Saturday in Douglasville.
Douglas County leaders and community members came together at the courthouse for an event "bringing together of the whole Douglas County community to show unity and purpose."
Sponsored by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department, the gathering included live music, a program on the courthouse steps, a "unity walk" around the courthouse and a free picnic.

"Together -- we inspire each other by sharing our diversity," an event flier reads. "Together -- we find solutions, strength and inspiration. Together -- we create community."
Douglas is one of Georgia's more diverse counties, with a population that is about 44 percent black and 43 percent white, with about 9 percent identifying as Hispanic or Latino and almost 2 percent Asian, according to 2015 Census estimates.
