Dazzles Roller Rink Shuts Its Doors

The popular entertainment spot posted on Facebook that it was closing and it has reportedly been sold.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Dazzles Roller Rink, a popular entertainment destination for kids, teens and young adults in Douglasville for nearly 30 years, has closed its doors for good.

The rink, at 3844 Longview Dr., "will be closed until further notice," the staff said last week in a Facebook post.

The Douglas County Sentinel reported that the entertainment spot was sold in a foreclosure sale on the steps of the Douglas County Courthouse on June 6.

"We would like to thank you all for your business since 1989 ...," the rink's staff wrote on Facebook. "We have enjoyed seeing generation after generation grow up and learn to skate with us at Dazzles."

There were more than 140 comments on the Facebook post, with many followers recounting their memories of the roller rink.

"I don't know where to begin, but I have been coming to Dazzles since Carl has opened the doors to the rink (and) there are just so many memories," one follower wrote. " I have met so many great people and skaters and skated with the finest, also met my wife ... and also proposed to her there."

Wrote another: "I had my 10 year old birthday there in 1999 and it was superb! Complete with a skate race, laser tag and the 'wind box' that you could climb into to get money/coupons! It was a great birthday and many other memories in between! ... Thank you for all the memories over the years!"

In a follow-up post, the rink's staff posted a thank-you message, along with a link to a video of the Bill Withers son, "Lean On Me."

"The love and support from our community is so overwhelming," the post reads. "Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!"
