DCHS Grad Lonnie Thompson, 56, Dies

Lonnie Thompson, 56 of Lithia Springs, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17. He was born Oct. 6, 1957 in Gardena, CA. 

Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Douglas County High School and attended Dekalb College and Southern Adventist University. He enjoyed golf and walking in nature. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Douglasville Seventh-day Adventist Church, a Religious Liberty leader in his church and affiliated with the Liberty Times.

He was preceded in death by his father Wendell Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Merlyn Thompson of Lithia Springs, GA; daughter, Stacy Thompson of Lithia Springs, GA; mother, Grace Thompson of Douglasville, GA; brother, Danny Thompson and wife Lesley of Winston, GA; mother-in-law, Anastacia Balacuit of Lithia Springs, GA; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ocampo and husband Edwin of Lithia Springs, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Pastor Paul Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
