Donald Edward Pop' Gibson, 80, Dies

Donald Edward “Pop” Gibson, age 80, of Whitesburg, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 17, at his residence. He was born Jan. 23, 1933 in Cape Cod, MA., the son of the late George Alexander Gibson and the late Helen Gertrude Fontaine Gibson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Anna Fisher Gibson, and children, Buddy Callahan and Gail Trehern. Survivors include his children: Kenneth Callahan and family and Dwight Callahan and family, all of Carrollton; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great children.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Anthony Puckett officiating. Those serving as pallbearers will be Scott Callahan, Kenneth Callahan, Nick Ford, Jonathan Jergens, Ross Dumke and Brandon Singleton.
