Douglas County Animal Services Dept. Receives $40K Donation
The donation will be used to purchase an x-ray machine, Douglas County officials said.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA—Douglas County Commission Chair, Dr. Romona Jackson Jones and the Board of Commissioners, unanimously voted 5-0 at Tuesday’s Commission meeting to approve a $40,000 donation the Douglas County Animal Services Department received from the Winn 3 Charitable Fund. The donation will be used to purchase an x-ray machine, county officials said.
“The equipment purchased will allow the staff to take digital radiographs of animals in medical need, without ever having to leave the shelter” Douglas County Kennel Manager Vanessa Francikowski said. “This is lifesaving equipment!”
Commission Chair Dr. Romona Jackson Jones, who worked for years in the healthcare industry before being elected to office, was thrilled to hear the good news. “This donation will decrease the financial burden on taxpayers by reducing Douglas County’s Animal Services annual cost on outsourcing veterinary services.” Chairman Jones said.
