Douglas County High Football Player Hospitalized After Collapse

Zyrees Oliver was in critical condition late Thursday night; he collapsed at home Tuesday night.

A football player at Douglas County High School was hospitalized in critical condition after collapsing at home following practice Tuesday night.

Zyrees Oliver, an offensive lineman, suffered cramps after practice, then collapsed at home later, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The family called 911 early Wednesday morning.

Oliver is listed as a junior of the football team’s website.

Douglas County Karen Stroud told the AJC doctors did not immediately know what caused the student to collapse.

The Douglas County Sentinel reported Oliver is one of the team’s captains. He was still listed in critical condition Thursday night.
