Douglas County Lighting of Citizens' Christmas Tree Is Monday
The annual event will take place from 6-8 p.m.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — It's the Monday after Thanksgiving. In Douglas County, that means it's time for the annual lighting of the Citizens' Christmas Tree.
The celebration will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Douglas County Courthouse.
There will be refreshments to begin, then a program beginning at 7 p.m. will feature music from the Chestnut Log Middle School chorus, the New Manchester High School chorus, the lighting of the tree and the arrival of Santa.

The "citizens' tree" is a Deodora cedar planted by Douglas County Commissioner Chairman Tom Worthan in 2006 as a gathering place for people in the county to come together.
Since then, the tree has been lighted annually on the Monday night after Thanksgiving.
