Douglas County Schools Decide On Early Release

BREAKING: The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of metro Atlanta on Friday.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglas County public school students will be released early Friday due to concerns about the weather.

Middle and high school students in the county will be released at noon, while elementary school students will be released at 1 p.m., said Douglas County Public Schools spokeswoman Portia Lake.

School buses will run their normal routes at those times, Lake said.

ACT tests scheduled to be administered Saturday at Alexander and Douglas County high schools will take place as scheduled, she said.

The National Weather Service on Friday issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of north and central Georgia, including metro Atlanta. According to the NWS, a wintry mix of rain and snow should turn to all snow across north and west-central Georgia Friday.
