The county District Attorney’s Office said in a Facebook post that Beverly Marshall was found guilty on Monday of arson and insurance fraud. Her sentencing was scheduled for Wednesday.
Evidence present at the trial indicated Marshall called Cobb County Police on Sept. 4, 2013 to report her 2006 Dodge Charger had been stolen. Eight days later, the car was found engulfed in flames in Villa Rica.

Co-defendant Justin Stainbrook, who pleaded guilty in 2014, eventually told police Marshall gave him money and drugs to dispose of the car “so that she could collect the insurance money from State Farm,” the DA’s Office said in the the release.
Evidence also showed Marshall sold the tires, rims and other car parts to a shop in Marietta. She filed a claim for nearly $7,000.
