Douglas Sheriff's Office Says Don't Let Grinches Ruin Your Holiday

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office posted the following tips on Facebook on avoiding package theft during the holiday season.

Several jurisdictions around Atlanta are reporting thieves taking packages almost as soon as they’re dropped off. There are several ways to avoid package theft:

• Request a signature upon delivery. That way the delivery service can’t simply leave a box without proof that someone signed for it.

• Have the package shipped to your place of business.

• Leave instructions for the delivery person to leave the box somewhere other than the front porch/door.

• Install a security camera with a good view of your front door/porch. While this may not prevent a theft, it could help identify suspects and aid in your theft case should your package be stolen.
