Douglasville Man Killed in Northeast Cherokee Wreck

Douglas Perry Patterson, 38, was fatally injured in the accident, which occurred on S.R. 372 near Hog

A Douglasville man died in a two vehicle accident in northeast Cherokee County early Tuesday evening.

During the afternoon of Sept. 23, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound on S.R. 372 near Hogan Pond Lane when it ran off the west shoulder, overcorrected and crossed the center lane, said Georgia State Patrol spokesperson Franka Young.

A Lexus IS 300, which was traveling northbound, hit the Elantra on its passenger side.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the accident just after 5 p.m., according to a post on its Facebook page.

Douglasville resident Douglas Perry Patterson, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus, 23-year-old Alexandra T. Johansen of Jasper, was transported to North Fulton Hospital for treatment. Cherokee fire noted Johansen had fractures to her right tibia and fibula and severe injuries to one of feet.

The accident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
