Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:
- The Atlanta Business Chronicle has named the City of Douglasville the "Healthiest Employer" for the second year in a row. The city was recognized for first place in the medium-sized (100-499 employees) category. The award recognizes Douglasville's commitment to offering impactful health and wellness programs to its employees. (Press Release Desk )
- District 1 Commissioner Henry Mitchell III will host help host a resource and job fair event on Sept. 14. The Higher Standard Foundation for Free Resource and Job Event Fair will be held at the Douglas County Sheriff's Department from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. You can learn more about the event at the link. - Douglasville native Bradyn Swinson will return to his home state today when he plays against Georgia State with his football team, the Oregon Ducks. The edge rusher was ranked No. 55 in the state when he ultimately chose to go to Oregon State – seemingly overlooked by GSU. Swinson will play today at Mercedes-Benz Stadium – GSU's home field – with a lot of his family in attendance for the homecoming game. (OregonLive)
- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office released its arrest reports for Sept. 1. A total of 18 arrests were made in the county ranging from failure to appear in court to aggravated assault by strangulation. See all arrests made at the link. (Douglas County Sheriff's Office)
- Douglas County School System will be closed for students on Monday and Tuesday of next week. Labor Day is observed for all students and staff on Sept. 5, and students have a holiday on Sept. 6 as well. Students will return to school next week on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
