Douglasville Police Officer Shoots Suspect in Struggle

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Douglasville Police office shot a suspect during a struggle Wednesday afternoon at a Lithia Springs address.

According to the police department, the officer was dispatched to the address at about 1:30 p.m. in regard to a report of a suspicious person.

When the officer encountered the suspect, a struggle took place and the officer fired one round, striking the suspect in the arm, police said.

The suspect sustained a non-life threatening injury and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to the scene and will be conducting an independent investigation.
