Douglasville Sorority Chapter To Hold 'Book Bag Blitz'
The Sigma Omega Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha hopes to give away 500 full book bags at the July 30 event.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- It may be the height of summer, but the Douglasville chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority is working to help students get ready for back-t0-school.
The sorority's Sigma Omega Omega chapter has scheduled its Book Bag Blitz event for Saturday, July 30, at Jesse Davis Park.
The event will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The park is located at 7775 Malone Street, in Douglasville.

At the event, AKAs hope to hand out 500 book bags packed with necessary supplies for students who need them.
There also will be barbers on hand giving free haircuts for kids. There will be live music, vendors, face painting and other entertainment, as well.

Children must be present to receive their book bag.
The book bags will be filled with notebooks, paper, pens, pencils and other school supplies. They are filled using sorority chapter funds and through corporate and private donations.
