Douglasville Wants A Trader Joe's, Krispy Kreme, Captain D's

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglasville really wants a specialty grocery store to come to town. Also? You're really hankering for a doughnut.

Trader Joe's, Sprouts and Whole Foods topped the list when we asked what business you'd like to see come to town on the Douglasville Patch Facebook page.

It was a close race between the "fresh format" groceries, with Trader Joe's getting the most mentions, Sprouts coming in a very close second and Whole Foods finishing narrowly behind them.

Some of you didn't really have a preference.

"Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, or Sprouts, as well as a few good quality restaurants," wrote one reader.

On the food front, it was clear that a lot of you have that "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign on your minds. North Carolina-based Krispy Kreme got more votes than any other restaurant chain.

Or maybe it's fried seafood you're craving. Captain D's got a bunch of love, as did Red Robin, Cheesecake Factory and a big-burrito place like Chipotle or Willie's.

Several respondents called for more local new businesses — from book stores to coffee shops to good Southern eateries.

"Great little antique shops, art galleries, boutiques, cafes with outside seating, ice cream shop with tables out side, bookstore .....hmmmm," wrote one reader.

A couple of respondents weren't too hopeful, though.

"Trader Joe's, Sprouts, Whole Foods, a summer farmer's market ... and the sad thing is, because of our demographics and roads, we will probably never get them," one reader wrote.
