Douglasville Woman Faces Charges in Fatal Wreck

The early morning wreck on Saturday, July 11, killed Louis Caldararo Jr., also of Douglasville.

A Douglasville woman is behind bars, charged with vehicular homicide and DUI after a fatal early morning accident last weekend.

Tyler Morgan Hutcherson, 23, is being held without bond in the Douglas County jail, charged in the Saturday, July 11 wreck that killed Louis Caldararo Jr., 42, also of Douglasville. The wreck also injured a passenger in her car.

Hutcherson is charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI-alcohol, serious injury by vehicle and failure to obey traffic signal.

According to the Georgia State Patrol incident report, the accident happened around 4:50 a.m. Saturday at the intersection at Georgia Hwy 92 and Maroney Mill Road.

Caldararo was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy southbound on Hwy 92 when he was struck by a 2005 Saab driven by Hutcherson. The Saab, which was westbound on Maroney Mill Road, “failed to obey a traffic device,” according to the report. Both cars ended up overturned.

Caldararo, who was partially ejected and had to be extricated from his vehicle, was dead at the scene.

A passenger in Hutcherson’s car, a 23-year-old woman, was extricated and air-lifted to Grady Hospital.
