Driver Arrested in Hit-and-Run of Student Getting Off School Bus

The New Manchester High School student who was reportedly struck by a hit-and-run driver after getting off the school bus Monday afternoon said it all happened so fast.

Destiny Wilson, 17, had injuries to her shoulder and foot from the collision near Bomar Road and Springside Court Monday around 4 p.m.
“I’m OK. Just shaken up a little bit,” the junior told WXIA-TV in this report.

“I just remember people yelling my name. I could see the car. Then I was on the ground. That’s about it,” Wilson told the TV station.
Later, the Georgia State Patrol arrested the driver, Yuan Lam, 46, of Maspath, N.Y. She is accused of driving her Acura past the school bus as students were crossing the street, then leaving the scene, WSB-TV reported.
The driver was charged with hit-and-run/leaving the scene, reckless driving, failure to stop for a school bus loading or unloading, and other offenses, the TV station said.
Witnesses told Channel 2 they were shocked to see the woman drive away after she ran over the girl’s foot.
