Edgar Lewis Standard, 90, Dies

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 22, from 2 until 6 p.m.

Edgar Lewis Standard, 90 of Douglasville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19.  He was born Nov. 10, 1923 in Jackson, GA. Mr. Standard was a very caring person, who loved taking care of his family and looking after his neighbors.  He had a successful career in the grocery business for over 60 years; was a member of the Masonic Lodge with more than 50 years of service and was a member of Pray’s Mill Baptist Church. He was an avid Braves fan.

Mr. Standard was preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Standard; son, Ernest Standard; daughter, Phyllis Loza; and his parents, Ernest and Eloise Thurston Standard.

He is survived by his son, Phillip Standard and his wife, Gina of Austell, GA; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 22, from 2 until 6 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend Josh Buice officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta.
