Entry Applications Now Accepted for Annual Veterans Day Parade in Douglasville

"The Parade with a Purpose" under the lights on Nov. 11.

“The Parade with a Purpose” will again make its way through Douglasville to honor our veterans, active military, reserves and US Flag on the night of Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th.

The unique parade presents the opportunity for Douglas County residents to say “thank you” to those who have obtained and preserved our freedoms. Veterans groups, military and reserve units, and JROTC units have been invited to participate in the annual event, the only known nighttime lighted Veterans Day Parade in the Nation. Other entries may now make application to participate.

All parade units “light themselves up” for the night parade even though it proceeds along lighted streets. The parade steps off at 7 p.m. from Douglas County High School; proceeds north on Campbellton Street; west on Church Street; and then south on Bowden, Woodrow and Campbellton Streets back to the high school. A performance area for bands and drill teams has been designated on Campbellton Street between Spring and Church Streets.
