Esther Lee Karr Johnson, 83, Dies

Esther Lee Karr Johnson, 83 of Mableton passed away early in the morning on Dec. 18 at Wellstar Cobb Hospice/Tranquility in Austell.

Esther was born to John Henry Karr and Clara Lee Bone Karr on April 29, 1930 in Fulton County, Atlanta.

She retired from the IRS in 1992 after 13 years of service as an office clerk and was a beloved member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. She was also a member of Alpha/Lambda Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and was an active supporter of Soldiers’ Angels and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Esther Lee Karr Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Andrew Johnson. Survivors include daughters, Debbie Glore of Calhoun and Cheryl and husband Chuck Laughlin on Lithia Springs; granddaughters, Marie McGill and Selena Galmon both of Calhoun and Lanisa Laughlin of Dahlonega; great-grandchildren, Macy Wilbanks, Kyler Galmon, Adysen Parris, C.J. and Karringtyn McGill; and brother in law, Floyd Johnson and wife Pat.

Funeral Services were be held on Friday, Dec. 20, at White Columns Chapel in Mableton chapel with Dr. Randal Whitten officiating. Interment followed at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
