Haven Hills Therapeutic Riding Center (HHTRC) is proud to announce its First Annual Dog and Pony Show. The event will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2011, from 9 am to 2 pm. Sara Carter, Director of HHTRC, is happy to announce that the event will be held on HHTRC grounds, and admission is free to the public. The Dog and Pony Show will consist of Dog Show Demonstrations (agility, obedience, Frisbee, tracking, and herding—whether sheep or geese hasn’t yet been decided), a Dog Trick Contest, a Dog Costume Contest, and Special Olympic Riding Demonstrations. Carter is working on gathering other demonstrators, and may have a K-9 Police Dog Demonstration as well as a “jumpy-house” for children to play in. In addition, there will be vendors and exhibitors present, with a bake sale and lunch available for purchase. Pony rides are $5 at the event. All proceeds will benefit the Center. HHTRC is a non-profit, 501c3 organization in Fairburn, GA, and a member center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). The Center provides therapeutic riding for children, teenagers, and adults who have physical and/or mental disabilities. HHTRC survives on donations alone, and Carter will not turn away anyone who might benefit from the rehabilitation therapies, despite any mental, physical, or financial limitations that a family may have. The program also includes the Special Olympic Annual State Horseshow.
