Motorcyclist Killed in Morning Wreck in Douglas County (Update)

The Georgia State Patrol said a motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning in an accident on Thornton Road in Douglasville.

The accident happened around 7:20 a.m. on Thornton at the intersection with Oak Ridge Road, just north of I-20.

State Patrol spokesperson Franka Young said the preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist ran into the rear of a box truck and died at the scene. He is considered the at-fault driver, Young said, and no charges will be filed against the truck driver.

The name of the deceased man is not being released until the next of kin is notified.
