First Douglas Community Garden Launched By Midway Resource Center

The Midway Community Garden will launch on "Earth Day," Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – Midway Community Resource Center will launch the first Keep Douglas County Beautiful Community Garden. The Midway Community Garden will launch on "Earth Day," Sunday, April 22 at 1 p.m. At this grand event a free Master Gardening Class will be held from 2 - 3 p.m. and is open to everyone, which includes first time gardeners or more experienced gardeners.

“The Midway Community Garden will be a vehicle to help, connect and serve this community with fresh vegetables and produce through gardening. This garden will stimulate social interaction and community development, encourage self-reliance and beautify the neighborhood,” said Darlene Sheardon, Executive Director of the Midway Community Resource Center.

The Midway Community Resource Center is partnering with Keep Douglas County Beautiful and will be the first Keep Douglas County Beautiful Community Garden. The mission of Keep Douglas County Beautiful is to educate, engage, and empower citizens and businesses with the resources to promote a clean and sustainable community.

“We are excited to partner with the Midway Community Resource Center to facilitate the opening of this community garden,” stated Tiffany Stewart-Stanley, Director of External Affairs and Executive Director of Keep Douglas County Beautiful. “It is the goal of Keep Douglas County Beautiful to involve our citizens in beautification projects throughout the county.”
