Gang Members Convicted Of Doulgasville Murder, Face Life Sentence

Two gang members of the Crip gang Cuzz6locc were convicted by a Douglas County Jury for a 2017 murder.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — Roger Mills and Moses Bolar, members of the Crip gang Cuzz6locc (pronounced Cuzzblock), were convicted by a Douglas County Jury for the 2017 murder of Masuto Garrett. Bolar and Mills now face possible sentences of Life in Prison without Parole.

The case was prosecuted by District Attorney Ryan Leonard and Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Sam Newman. The case was tried before Superior Court Judge William H. “Beau” McClain who will preside over sentencing.

On Dec. 23 of 2017, law enforcement responded to 911 calls from a residence just off of Cave Springs Road in Douglasville. Several witnesses on scene and nearby reported the victim had come to the residence to visit a woman friend at approximately 9 p.m. that night. Later that night Mills and Bolar began acting aggressively and threatening the victim over a dispute with a wo who was present.

It was discovered during the investigation that a civilian in the residence recorded the events on a cell phone and that video was later turned over to law enforcement. The video recording confirmed numerous witness statements which showed the victim was unarmed, offered no violence towards anyone on scene, and was attempting to leave the residence. As the victim was leaving the scene, Mills and Bolar gunned down the victim and fired multiple shots at him. The victim suffered three gunshot wounds from two different calibers of firearm and ultimately succumbed to his injuries. After the shooting both Mills and Bolar fled on foot and it was over 30 minutes before anyone reported the murder to law enforcement. Mills was taken into custody the next day while Bolar was arrested by the US Marshall’s roughly two weeks later.

District Attorney Leonard called the murder “A despicable act of cowardice by violent gang members.” Leonard went on to highlight the lack of remorse and concern the Defendants had for the victim’s life. “I am pleased the jury came forward and did the right thing to achieve justice for Mr. Garrett. This verdict ensures both Roger Mills and Moses Bolar will spend the rest of their lives in prison where they belong and where they can hurt no other members of this community.”

Deputy Chief ADA Newman also credited Investigator Hayes of the Douglas County Major Crimes Unit, a joint task force between the Douglasville Police Department and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. “The thorough work of law enforcement in this case made this prosecution possible and allowed justice to be obtained for Mr. Garrett and his family.”
