Showers and thunderstorms will start out the week in the metro area, with sunnier skies forecast for week's end.

ATLANTA, GA — Break out the umbrellas, Atlanta. The metro area is in for a few rainy days this week.

While temperatures are expected to bump back up into the 70s as the work week gets going, it's going to be a wet slog until about Thursday.

By the end of the week, all the rain will have cooled things off a little bit. But we're supposed to have clear skies heading into next weekend.

Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Wednesday night, showers and thunderstorms also likely. Cloudy, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Mostly clear Thursday night, with a low around 38.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 59. Mostly clear, with a low around 36.
