Georgia Weather Forecast: Some Sun, Then Storms This Weekend

Metro Atlanta will see temperatures cool off a bit this weekend as thunderstorms make their way through Georgia.

ATLANTA, GA — We're looking at a bit of mixed bag in metro Atlanta this weekend on the weather front.

If you're out and about early Saturday, there's a good chance you'll get to enjoy sunny skies and temperatures that will creep into the low 80s. After that? There's more than a decent chance you're going to run into showers and thunderstorms in much of north Georgia.

The first real storms are forecast to hit the area around 3 p.m. Saturday. There will then be a chance for showers and thunderstorms for the rest of the day.

And Sunday should be even wetter. There's a 70 percent chance of precipitation, starting at 8 a.m., so either make some indoor plans or keep your umbrella handy.

Friday night: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 63.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Southwest with gusts as high as 20 m.p.h. Saturday night, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m, then a slight chance of showers between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 8 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Sunday night, a 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54.
