Google Expansion Includes Huge Data Center: Report

The $300-million expansion announced earlier this month reportedly includes 800,000 sq. ft. data center.

Google’s planned expansion in Douglas County will include a large new data center, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported Thursday.

Google announced earlier this month it planned a $300 million expansion of its data facility in Lithia Springs, with 25 new jobs expected to be created.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported some of the details of the size of the expansion, which includes an 800,000-plus-square-foot, four-story data center. The project is code named “Woodside,” the Business Chronicle reported, citing an impact filing with the state.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
