Grandmother, 75, Found Dead in Douglasville Apartment

She was found tied up in her apartment around 6 p.m. Monday, according to news reports.

Douglasville Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death of a 75-year-old woman who was found tied up in her apartment Monday.

Douglasville Police said the woman was found around 6 p.m. in her apartment on Selman Road in Douglasville, according to news reports.

Relatives identified the woman as Florene Duke. The woman had not been seen since around 9 a.m. Monday.

Duke was described as “like everybody’s granny,” Douglasville Police Chief Chris Womack told the AJC. Chris Duke, a grandson, told WSB, “My grandma wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

No additional information was released on the incident. No suspects have been identified, but investigators are working hard trying to sort out what happened.

“We want to jump on this fast and hard, and bring somebody to justice for this,” Chief Womack told the AJC.
