Guilty: Douglasville Man Molested Young Boy For Years

Jaime Jones, of Dougasville, pleaded guilty to child molestation and incest and faces a similar charge in Pennsylvania.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A Douglasville man has pleaded guilty to sexually molesting a young boy in his family over a period of several years.

Jaime Jones pleaded guilty on Wednesday to four counts of child molestation and one count of incest for molesting the boy, beginning in 2011.

He was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Cynthia Adams to 30 years, with the first 25 to be served in prison.

"This sentence ensures the defendant will spend several decades in prison and spares the victim from having to testify at trial," said Assistant District Attorney Bonnie Smith, who prosecuted the case.

After the boy made the crimes public in 2013, law enforcement began an extensive search for Jones, who is a professional truck driver.

He was ultimately found in Pennsylvania, where he was accused of similar crimes against another victim.

The Douglasville Police Department had Jones extradited to Georgia to face charges here.

Under his plea, Jones will not be eligible for parole until he is 73 years old. He is also banished from Douglas County if he is ever released from prison.

He will now be returned to the custody of the state in Pennsylvania to face charges there.

District Attorney Brian Fortner called the case "a reprehensible crime perpetrated by an opportunistic predator."

"No child should ever be subjected to such abhorrent acts and this sentence ensures the victim can move forward without fear of being abused by the defendant ever again," Fortner said.
