I-285 Ramps to I-20 Westbound To Be Closed

The closures will allow workers to resurface the ramps, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Roadwork will once again cause the ramps from Interstate 285 onto Interstate 20 westbound to be shut down over the next few days.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, workers will close I-285's northbound and southbound ramps to I-20 westbound on Sunday and Monday nights.

They'll remain closed from 10 p.m.-5 a.m both nights.

One lane of I-20 westbound also will be closed at the interchange.

The closures, weather permitting, will allow contractors to resurface the ramps, according to the DOT.

Motorist will need to use detours if trying to get to I-20 westbound from I-285 during those hours.

Here's how the Georgia DOT suggests getting around the closures:

  • Motorists traveling on I-285 northbound to I-20 westbound can take the US 278/US 78/SR 8/Hollowell Parkway exit, then make a left off of the exit. Continue on US 278/US 78/SR 8/Hollowell Parkway to SR 70/Fulton Industrial Boulevard; make a left on SR 70/Fulton Industrial Boulevard; continue on SR 70/ Fulton Industrial Boulevard to I-20 westbound.
  • Motorists traveling on I-285 southbound to I-20 westbound can take the SR 139/Martin Luther King Jr. Drive exit; make a right off the exit; continue on SR 139/Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to SR 70/Fulton Industrial Boulevard; make a right on SR 70/Fulton Industrial Boulevard; continue on SR 70/ Fulton Industrial Boulevard to I-20 westbound.
