John Jefferson Toney, 80, Veteran of Korean War

John Jefferson Toney, age 80 of Villa Rica, passed away, Friday, October 10, 2014. He was born March 15, 1934 in Sunshine, N.C., to the Carrie Towery Toney and the late Zachariah Church Toney. He was a Veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean Conflict and was a truckdriver, having retired from the Austell Box Board. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his sisters: Belle Zora Brooks, Lillie Mae Young, Edna Luckadoo, Mell Toney, Nancy Toney; brothers: Britt Toney, Gleason Toney, Lenz Toney, Jack Toney, Jim Toney, Bob Toney; six half-brothers and sisters.

Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Louise Brigman Toney of Villa Rica; sons and daughters-in-law: Randy and Becky Toney, Shannon and Lisa Toney,; grandchildren and spouse: Jeremy and Jenn Toney, Matthew Toney, Jennifer Toney; great grandchildren: Hailey Toney, Emma Toney and Harper Toney, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosehaven Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends, Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 3-7 pm at the funeral home.
