John ‘Sonny’ Maurice Ellison, 75, Dies
The graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. at Yonah Memorial Park, Demorest GA with Rev. Herbert Chisenhall officiating.
John ‘Sonny’ Maurice Ellison, 75, of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9. He was born Jan. 25, 1938 in Greer, SC.
Mr. Ellison was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson College of Law and owner/president of Surface Maintenance Company, Inc. He loved tennis, dancing, poker, scuba diving, snow skiing, flying ultra light aircraft, and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ferris Ellison and Elma Armenta Kinney Ellison.

He is survived by Jeannette Ellison of Douglasville, GA; sons, Steve Ellison of Albany, GA and Michael Ellison of Marietta, GA; daughter, Jennifer Tackett and husband Keith of Villa Rica, GA; grandchildren, Brittany and Erika Ellison; Kori, Kathryn, Megan and Mason Tackett; sister, Vera Ellison; and several cousins.
