Joyce Hendrix Dowda, 68, Dies

Joyce Hendrix Dowda, 68 of Villa Rica, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013.  She was born on Sept. 30, 1944 in Atlanta, the daughter of the late William Hendrix and the late Doris Atkinson Hendrix. She worked as a medical office secretary and was a member of the Ephesus Baptist Church in Villa Rica.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tony Bryant. Survivors include her husband, Hubert Dowda, of Villa Rica; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Mike Larson of Douglasville; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jill Dowda of Douglasville, and Brad and Kelly Dowda of Villa Rica; sister, Sandra Bryant of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby Hendrix of Douglasville, Steve and Anita Hendrix of Villa Rica, and Donnie and Sheena Hendrix of Douglasville; grandchildren, Brandon Larson, Rachael Larson, Mason Dowda, Jordyn Dowda, Addison Dowda and Avery Dowda.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, June 3, at 2 p.m. from Hightower's Memorial Chapel with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on today from 5 to 8 p.m.
