K-9 Meet and Greet Kicks Off Pennies Drive

The event kicked off the DCSO K-9 Unit’s sixth “Pennies for Police Service Dogs” penny drive for Chase Away K-9 Cancer, which runs Feb. 16-27
The drive’s goal is to collect pennies, or other spare change, at elementary and middle schools in Douglas County to donate to the charity.

Schools collecting the most money can earn a special demonstration from the county’s K-9 Unit.
The sheriff’s office posted several photos from the event on Facebook, some of which are included with this post (see above).
Thursday’s kickoff event was dedicated to Clayton County Police Officer John Flaherty, whose K-9 partner “Xavier” died on Jan. 31, 2015.
