Let's Get Fit Together with Patch
Would you like to get a major discount on a fitness camp and join other Patch viewers to get fit while tracking your stats and sharing your story?

A couple of weeks ago, I asked on our Facebook page if Douglasville Patch viewers would be interested in getting together for a Patch-organized fitness program. Within 30 minutes, several people responded on the page, some Tweeted me and a couple emailed.
It seems there is a lot of interest out there in Douglasville to get fit. I don't know about anyone else but I sit behind the computer much of the day and don't get the exercise I know I need. I sometimes miss the physical training I would get two or three times a week when I was in the military. Well, I don't know if I miss it that much but it helped keep the weight off and I know I need it.
Those of you that have met me in person have no doubt realized that the photo I use for Patch is a bit, shall we say, outdated. It is a slimmer, more youthful person I used to know. Hopefully after our fitness camp, I will be able share a more up to date photo of a slimmer, new Patch editor.

As I was mulling a Douglasville Patch fitness group over in my head, I got the news from one of our Patch freelancers that a new resident of Douglasville, Cortez Adams, was starting a "boot camp," fitness and nutrition business in Douglasville, called Godly Wellness. He's also a former Track & Field All American.
After talking with Cortez over lunch at the , (he had something healthy, unlike myself), he was excited at the concept of getting Douglasville Patch viewers together and starting a program like you see so often on TV. You know, "City loses 2,000 pounds over 10 weeks!"

With his help, we've worked out a basic plan we would like community input on.
First, he's willing to offer us a huge discount if we're able to get enough Patch viewers together for a big enough group. The price could be as low as $25 a month. He said he sees the best results from a program that lasts around 90 days.
The best times right now would be Tuesday,Thursday, and Saturday for 45 minute time periods. We need to decide if it will be in the morning or evening, 6 to 8 a.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. There would be up to three sessions a week but you wouldn't necessarily have to attend all three.
The goal is to provide a unique, effective and affordable experience that's enjoyable for participants at various fitness levels. The program is geared to burn fat, lose inches, tone up, feel better and get healthy. Folks who responded to my Facebook message said motivation was important and we could motivate each other on the site and in person. Cortez might even do some of his own motivating!
Cortez will work with each person individually on a meal plan and free wellness consultations.
He'll answer all Patch viewer's questions about fitness and wellness right on the site. We can also use Patch to track our improvement and goals
We hope to start this in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested, please write a comment following this article, email or Facebook me and let me know.
I'm grateful to Cortez for allowing us this great opportunity and excited at the prospect of losing weight and having fun with fellow Patchers!
