Listening Forums Planned For Douglas County Schools
School system leaders will attend to hear thoughts from parents and other community members on their concerns and expectations.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Leaders in the Douglas County school system are planning a series of public, town-hall style meetings designed to let members of the public have input on how local schools are run.
The five "DCSS Listens" events are set to begin Tuesday, Sept. 19 and will be held at various locations in Douglasville and Lithia Springs.
"The health of the school system is vitally important to a community," said Superintendent Trent North. "As the new superintendent, I want to hear the concerns of our citizens as well as what our parents expect and desire for the education of their children."

According to a press release, the purpose of the events is to "provide an open forum for families and community members to offer ideas and suggestions directly to members of the DCSS System Leadership team."
They will be facilitated by the district's new Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement and different district leaders will attend each meeting. After the five meetings this fall, another round will be scheduled for the spring, school system officials said.
