Lithia Springs Violence Rumors Not A Concern, Sheriff Says

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigated violence rumors at Lithia Springs High School and say there's no reason for concern.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Responding to rumors spread via social media, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Thursday said there is no credible threat of violence at Lithia Springs High School.

The sheriff's office said in a Facebook post that it became aware Thursday of "a rumor being spread on social media that claimed that a student may have plans to carry out an act of violence against the school."

A school resource officer assigned to Lithia Springs by the sheriff's office investigated the rumors.

"There is no reason to believe that anything has happened or is being planned against Lithia Springs High School at this time," the post said.
